Holi Festival

Guess who's back!

WOW, I've not written a post for such a long time! I have been so busy with work, uni work, trying to have somewhat of a social life etc that I haven't had a chance to blog until now. Hopefully that'll change now that I've officially finished all of my 2nd year lectures!

I celebrated the end of the school year by treating myself to a night out. I feel like I've practically spent most of the year reading novels or writing essays. Unlike 1st year, I've rarely had time to go out or even spend time with friends. So in the last week of uni, I decided to let my hair down for the first time in what feels like forever.

On Wednesday, the Hindu society at my university hosted Holi celebrations throughout the day. For those who don't know, Holi is a festival that mainly takes place in India and Nepal during the springtime each year. The celebrations last for two days, with the second day involving the famous paint tossing that the festival is so known for!

At my university, there were two chances to get involved with all the fun; in the large field on campus during the day and then again at our SU th same night. As I was working during the day, I went to my SU that evening, just as I had done the year before - and I absolutely loved it yet again!

the end result - it got messy!

she said she didn't want to get painted... oops!

Aside from the paint throwing, the night also featured a performance from some dhol drummers. From the looks of it. the players were fairly young - most probably students from the university. If that's the case, than I'm even more impressed with their performance as it was -from what I could tell - flawless.

sorry for the terrible quality!

We ended up leaving the SU early because my friend Silyia (pictured above) got a drink spilled on her by a guy who was - unsuccessfully - trying to chat me up. Also, we're both self-proclaimed grandmas and like to be in bed at a decent hour. Plus, I had work the next day and had to wash the endless amount of powder paint out of my hair - which stained my scalp for a few days, I should add. But overall, I had an amazing time during my tiny slice of this year's Holi celebrations. Bring on next year!

Sorry for the short post! But I will be back soon with another :)

Ciao for now,

Tay xx
